Welcome

Welcome to Base Camp, Northern Star Council BSA's newest outreach program facility. Base Camp is now fully operational, having formally opened to the public on Saturday, October 2 with an Open House.

  • Base Camp is a resource for the entire community, serving four primary groups:
  • Scouts- after school, evening, and weekend programs
  • Schools- educational programs and field trips
  • Community groups - non-profit partnerships and facility rental
  • Corporate groups - retreats, conferences and team building

It is designed as a place - "Where expeditions begin" -  to introduce young people from all communities to the type of activities that are core elements of Scouting and our "learning by doing" approach to non-formal education. Young people of all ages and backgrounds can experience the adventures of Scouting right in the heart of the metro area.

For example, participants will be introduced to climbing on the rock faces inside Base Camp, which are replicas of those at Taylors Falls. They can take this learning to new heights as they confidently experience rock climbing at one of our other camps in the great outdoors.

For 100 years, Scouts have unleashed their confidence, courage and self-esteem by embracing adventure. Now, it's your turn. Base Camp is open to the entire community!

See an excellent overview of Base Camp shown on Fox 9 News on September 25, KARE 11 on September 29 and in October 1 articles appearing in the Star Tribune and Pioneer Press.
